A Tamagotchi is a hand-held digital pet created in 1996 by Aki Maita and sold by Bandai. The Tamagotchi is housed in a small and simple egg-shaped computer. Three buttons (A, B, and C) allow the user to select and perform an activity, including feeding, playing, and teaching the pet tricks. Since its release, over 10 million Tamagotchis have been sold as of 2005, the newest versions able to connect to the internet to avail of a wider range of games and. to interact with other tamagotchi owners. Talks of newer tamagotchi versions with even more connectivity options are rampant, and at this rate, future tamagotchis could possibly be used in the home as CCTV systems. Now THAT’S cool.
