Why A Helmet For Cycling Is Significant

A bicycle helmet is a headgear made to be used for riding a bike. They are manufactured to reduce the impact to your skull during a crash. Bikers all over the world use their headgear or helmet to protect themselves, especially in the events like marathons, down hill competitions and X games, or even for daily life uses. There are parameters for selecting the right helmet. Of course, the helmets have to be in compliance with safety purposes or regulations.

There are four things bikers think about whenever they want to buy a helmet. First is the price since it must be affordable. The second aspect is the way it fits. Of course, you would not want to see yourself wearing an unfit helmet. Third would be keeping it cool since it would be comfortable for you if your helmet doesn’t heat up immediately and properly ventilates.

The fourth factor is its weight since light helmets are really advisable as you can easily turn your head for seeing the direction or any incoming vehicles and obstacles. And, by the way, if you are a biker with a cool bike, you should also wear a cool helmet, right? Or, it should be with the costume. For example, X Game cyclists most of the time are using a marathon helmet that will be really horrible  in terms of comfort, just for a reason for looking good for the whole attire, gear and event.

But, the truth of the matter is, what helmet manufacturers don’t want you to know is that you will receive most of the benefits with cheaper helmets as you normally do for the more expensive ones. Of course, the materials that are used for high quality helmets are intense and suitable for protection and comfort, unlike for the cheaper helmets. But, spending money for a high quality helmet is worth the price of being provided with comfort and safety.

There are two major types of helmets, the hard shell and the soft or micro shell. Hard shells have declined rapidly in the general cyclist population over this period, almost gone by the end of the decade. However, they remained more known and used by BMX riders.

Three kinds of cycling helmets commonly used are the cross-country type of helmet for cycling as they reduce the air friction so you could gain you speed in no time and accelerate very well. Secondly, there is the carbon full-face helmet for cycling that is used for downhill riding and BMX. And, third, the common helmet is used for simple headgear.

There are advantages and disadvantages upon helmet cycling. This is something that many bikers are debating ‘til now. In some places, like London, helmets for cycling are compulsory and must be worn by bike riders for safety. But, for others, it is a cause of a much worse accident.

Apparently, there was an article about bike riding morbidity. It says that starting from the year the helmet was made not compulsory, more than seven hundred bikers died along the road of the United States of America. And, from the year that wearing a helmet for cycling was implemented and made compulsory, the number of morbidity decreased from 700 down to 20. Helmets can be purchased at around 20 dollars to 500 dollars.
